Who we are

This website is operated by Philipp Abele (see imprint for more information) under the address https://www.pipsocalypso.com .

Our opinion about privacy and ethics

Seeing how the GDPR (or DSGVO for us Germans) brought a lot of confusion about data privacy, we thought deeply about what data our website collects, how we use it and if we really need it. As an outcome of this, we have decided to reduce all forms of data collection, cookies, etc. to a bare minimum that is necessary to operate this website.

Contact forms and email

On this website you will find a contact form that allows you to send messages to us. If you use that form, you will transfer the information about your name, email address and whatever else you have entered to us via email. The same is valid if you should manually send an email to one of the addresses found on this website.

If you use that form, you will have to use Google ReCAPTCHA from Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043 USA, from hereon just referred to as Google, to proof that you are not a bot, as we get a lot of automated spam.

When using the contact form, therefore you will transfer information to Google according to their privacy policy that you can read here:

https://policies.google.com/privacy

To our best knowledge, information regarding the referral-URL, IP-address, information regarding operating system, browser, viewing time, cookies, scripts, viewing settings and more might be collected by Google. If you are logged into your Google account at the time of using the ReCAPTCHA function, it is to be expected that the IP-address will be merged with your existing data.

We do not compare or merge data we receive via contact form or email with any usage or cookie data on our end and do not access the data from Google.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year. For the time being we have completely deactivated the comment function though.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Social Media

We may have embedded social media links in our website to like or share our content. The social media icons do not automatically collect your data or send you cookies. If you decide to actively click on one of the social media buttons, please be aware that you transfer your information with the social media platforms according to their privacy policy.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.) from YouTube, Instagram or other sources. Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor was visiting the other website. We try to use extended data privacy modes, e.g. like with YouTube videos, as far as they are available.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

If you disagree with this, please do not visit our website but close it right away at this point as functionality cannot be given without this embedded content.
